Holy Orders & Religious Life
"Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.' And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, 'Receive the Holy Spirit.'"
- John 20:21-22
Called to Serve
God calls each of us to holiness in different ways. For some, this call may be to serve the Church through Holy Orders or Religious Life. These vocations are precious gifts to the Church, through which Christ continues His ministry in the world today.
Understanding Vocations
Holy Orders
The Sacrament of Holy Orders has three degrees:
Bishops: Successors to the apostles
Priests: Co-workers with bishops in serving the faithful
Deacons: Ordained for service to the Church
Religious Life
Religious life includes various forms of consecrated life:
Religious Sisters and Brothers
Monks and Nuns
Consecrated Virgins
Members of Secular Institutes
Discerning Your Vocation
